This is a first edition stated on the copyright page with no additional printings and 1956 on both the title page and the copyright page. This is a clean and tight ex-Library copy, with the following elements present: stamp on front endpaper, "Cleveland Public Library" punched into the title page, markings on the dedication page, library stamps on all three page edges, sticker and circulation sleeve pasted on rear endpaper. The blue textured library cover is clean with rubbed edges, bumped corners, and no fraying or library markings. Spider web patterned endpapers have some tanning at the edges. The pages are lightly tanned but clean and unmarked beyond the previously stated library markings.
