Queer Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book Club
2nd Thursday, Monthly, Upstairs at 6:30 PM
Join our newly launched Queer Sci-Fi & Fantasy Book Club, where we explore worlds beyond imagination—full of magic, adventure, and queerness in all its forms! Meeting monthly, we'll read and discuss books that center LGBTQ+ characters, are written by queer authors, or both. From space operas to high fantasy epics, we celebrate stories that expand possibilities and push boundaries.
This club is free to join and open to all, whether you're a longtime SFF fan or just starting to explore the genre. Come connect with fellow readers, discover incredible books, and be part of a welcoming community that loves speculative fiction as much as you do!
Romantasy Book Club
1st Tuesday, Monthly, Upstairs at 6:30 PM
Do you love to escape to epic worlds, swoon-worthy tension, and characters who make morally questionable decisions (but like in a good way)? Then we ride at dawn—well, Tuesday evenings at Firefly Bookstore! This book club is for those who love their fantasy with a solid dose of romance, enemies-to-lovers tension, and slow burns that require emotional support snacks.
Expect fated mates, forced proximity, high-stakes drama, maybe some spice, and discussions that may or may not devolve into excited, feral screaming. New members are always welcome!
Teen Banned Book Club
Every Other Wednesday, Upstairs at 6:30 PM
Are you a high school student or homeschooler looking to expand your reading horizons and connect with fellow bookworms? Join Firefly Bookstore's ongoing Banned Book Club for Teens! Every month the group reads and discusses titles that have been historically or currently challenged or banned in U.S. schools and libraries. We alternate between classic literature and contemporary \"hot topics\" to explore how censorship shapes our culture.
The group has received donations from local supporters and around the world, allowing Firefly Bookstore to provide each member with a FREE copy of the book. You do not need to be part of the local school district to join. New members are always welcome!
Fiber Arts Group
Meeting Monthly, on Sundays at 2 PM
Our Fiber Arts Group welcomes knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers, embroiderers, and all fiber craft lovers! Open to all skill levels and ages, we hope to provide a friendly place to meet new friends, learn new skills, and share your creations.
Note: We can provide a limited amount of supplies but recommend you bring your own. If you're brand new, we can guide you on choosing materials and where to buy them locally.
Tarot Conversations
Last Tuesday each Month, Upstairs at 6:30 PM
Whether you're just starting your tarot journey or are an experienced reader, you're welcome to join our open Tarot Conversations group. Share decks, ask questions, discuss readings, and build connections with other enthusiasts. Meetings are held in our upstairs event room and are open to all.
Poetry Open Mic
Generally Last Monday each Month, at 6:30 PM
Writers of all kinds are invited to share their work at our monthly open mic—short stories, poetry, essays, and more! We typically meet on the last Monday of the month, but occasional changes occur, so please check the main calendar.
We sometimes feature guest authors and poets. Refreshments are provided, and BYOB is allowed for those 21+. Please note: Content may not always be \"kid friendly.\" This event is free and open to the public.
